Bios

  • John Hall

    VMD

Dr. Hall enjoys all types of patients. He can treat birds, guinea pigs, rats, chinchillas, and potbellied pigs. He enjoys working with birds and pocket pets in addition to dogs and cats. Dr. Hall has rescued several stray cats which now enjoy the luxuries of indoor living. His aviary includes the following species: macaws, cockatoos, a Nanday conure, African greys, Eclectus parrots, a Toco toucan, a yellow-naped Amazon, a black-headed caique, a violet-necked lory, budgies, lovebirds, cockatiels, finches, canaries, and pigeons. I grew up on a dairy farm and was always interested when the vet came to treat the farm animals. When I started in 1980, after graduating from vet school, all of us doctors treated large and small animals. Later I became interested in exotic animals. I have been working with birds since 1986! I work with Feathered Sanctuary, a bird rescue, and Operation Scarlet, a shar pei rescue. When I'm not at work I enjoy travelling and cooking...

  • Elena Shockman

    VMD

Elena grew up in Jenkintown, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia. Although she grew up in the suburbs, she was always a farm girl at heart. She attended Pennsylvania State University for her undergraduate degree. She majored in Animal Bioscience and minored in Microbiology. In her spare time she rode with the Penn State Equestrian Team. Elena spent the year prior to vet school in research at Temple University studying Streptococcus mutants bio-films, the bacterium most commonly associated with dental cavities. Elena continued her education at the University of Pennsylvania for her veterinary degree. After graduation, she spent a year in California for her internship, but decided Pennsylvania was where her heart lies. She returned to the east coast to start her career. Elena likes to spend her free time outdoors, biking, hiking, and horseback riding or relaxing with her boxer, Marley.

  • Dan Wareham

    Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Dan Wareham joined our team the beginning of June in 2014, and we are happy to have him!! Originally from Denver, Colorado, Dr. Wareham moved to the east coast in 1979. He worked for Pan American World Airways for 12 years before returning to school. He finished his undergrad at the University of Maryland and then attended Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1994. Dr. Wareham has special interests in Dentistry, Soft Tissue Surgery, and Internal Medicine. Before working at VCA Bridgeport he did Critical Care Emergency Medicine in addition to General Practice. Dr. Wareham grew up with Great Danes, and he now has a 175 lbs. Great Dane and a 15 lbs. Schnauzer (who thinks she rules the roost!) When he's not working, he enjoys going to the theater, hiking, biking, and travelling. "I always wanted to be a veterinarian; we bred and showed Great Danes when I was growing up. I enjoy educating clients in regards to their pets health!"
